There is loads of information out there about relaxing and meditation.
Sometimes it can be overwhelming and confusing.
There is many ways and techniques. It’s all about finding what is right for you.
What works for one may not work for another.
If you have ptsd, anxiety or have neurodivergence, sitting down and trying to sit still may actually trigger you and you could end up finding the whole process alarming, quite the opposite of what you want to achieve.
I personally suffer from anxiety and even though I started meditating as a child, I can find it hard at certain times, when my anxiety has decided to kick in.
One great way I have found to combat this, is go for a walk and just allow my brain to change its focus and thus allowing me to relax and the anxiety levels to come down.
A walk along the river is my favourite at the moment.
I can focus on the noise of the river, watch the birds, even focus on the different colours of the wildflowers.
I find has the same affect as me sitting and meditating. It allows me to recharge and release any pent up energy and emotions.
Another good way is swimming. Whether it’s in a pool or wild swimming (always think about your safety). Swimming is a great way to relax and allow yourself to recharge.
This also has the same effect.
If you haven’t already thought of these activities as a meditation activity, give them a go and let me know how you get on…
